Join Fr. Mike Schmitz, Bishop Barron, Sr. Miriam, Jonathan Roumie, Mark Wahlberg, and other world-class spiritual guides as together we experience the transformative power of prayer. Over the course of fourteen sessions, our guests will cover fourteen different prayer methods, focusing on the themes of listening to God in prayer and then being transformed to bear the fruits of charity and service.

    1Intro & Our FatherWelcome to the How to Pray Challenge! To begin, the CEO and Co-Founder of Hallow, Alex, will share the story of how God changed his life through prayer.     2Lectio DivinaWhat does it mean to pray? It first means to listen. To help us do this, Bible Scholar Jeff Cavins will talk about the importance of reading the Bible. Then Fr. Mike guides us through meditation on God's Word using a prayer method called "lectio divina."Jeff Cavins & Fr. Mike
    3Imaginative PrayerOne of the most powerful ways we can enter into the stories of the Bible is through imaginative prayer. Sr. Miriam James Heidland, SOLT, will show us how we can employ all of our senses to encounter Jesus.     4The RosaryRwandan Genocide Survivor Immaculée Ilibagiza will share the story of how the Rosary saved her life, and then she'll guide us in praying one decade of the Rosary together.Immaculée Ilibagiza
    5GratitudeThe more we develop the ability to pay attention to God’s voice, the more we recognize His goodness in our lives. Mark Wahlberg shares insights from his daily practice of gratitude and how we can begin to give thanks in all circumstances.Mark Wahlberg
    6The ExamenFr. Timothy Gallagher, OVM, a retreat master and spiritual director, will provide us with a concrete way of practicing discernment while listening for God's voice. He will show us how this prayer can help us grow in daily awareness of God and communion with Him.Fr. Timothy Gallagher
    7Sacred MusicContemporary music artists Matt Maher and Sarah Kroger will introduce how music can be another avenue for Scriptural prayer and serve as an aid for meditation. We'll close by listening to and praying with one of their songs.Matt Maher & Sarah Kroger
    8Surrender NovenaOnce we learn to listen to God, we're called to let Him transform our lives. Jonathan Roumie returns this week to show us how prayer changes us. He will share his story of surrender to God and talk about the powerful Surrender Novena.Jonathan Roumie
    9Litany of HumilityPrayer changes us, and one of those ways is how it helps us grow in virtue. Fr. Josh Johnson will join us today to talk about humility, the foundation of all the virtues, and he'll guide us in praying the Litany of Humility.Fr. Josh Johnson
    10Come, Holy SpiritThe Holy Spirit is the Lord and Giver of Life, and He teaches us how to pray. Bishop Joe Espaillat from the Archdiocese of New York will show us how when we call upon the Holy Spirit in prayer, we'd better be ready to have our hearts set aflame.Bishop Joe Espaillat
    11Chaplet of Divine MercySuffering and sorrow mark all of our lives, but for many, it can be difficult to pray through the experience of pain. Sr. Josephine Garrett, CSFN, a religious sister and mental health counselor, will reflect on how God enters into the mystery of our suffering.     12Psalms & Liturgy of the HoursThe psalms give voice to the whole range of human emotion, and they help us pray in all seasons of our life. From his experience of praying the psalms daily, Bishop Robert Barron will help us enter into the songbook of the Church and unite our voices with Christ.Bishop Robert Barron
    13The MassThe pinnacle of all prayer is the Holy Mass. Dr. Scott Hahn, biblical scholar and theologian, will share the story of how the Mass was an influential part of his conversion.     14The Fruit of PrayerAuthentic prayer always leads to love because in prayer, we encounter the heart of God, who is Love. In this final session, Mother Olga of the Sacred Heart shares how the fruit of prayer is service.
